ARISE by Tammy Nicole Glover

Why so downcast, oh my soul? The Lord woke you up this morning. He kept you safe through the night. His sun shines on you. His favor covers you like your favorite blanket.

It’s time to rise and shine. What happened yesterday has past. Today is a new day, full of new blessings and new mercies. Arise and be of good cheer. There is much work to be done by the Lord’s people.

Open your eyes, the world is hurting. Open your ears, the earth cries out. Open your heart and accept God’s assignment. He has given you strength, peace and joy. There is no need to be downcast, oh my soul. For your Heavenly Father is with you today and forever. He has promised to take care of you and to protect you. Your Heavenly Father is El-Shaddai-God Almighty. He is the Creator of the Earth. There is no one and no thing greater than Him. He parts seas. He heals the sick and raises the dead. He sent His Son, whose blood cleanses you of all sin. He has conquered death surely, He can handle your problems.

Praise the Lord, oh my soul, for He is good and His love endures forever. He is generous, not only with His mercy, but with all that is His to give. You are His child. Arise!

“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Psalm 42:5 NIV

SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR By Tammy Nicole Glover

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 NIV

This may have been a rough year for some, it definitely has been for me. There have been disappointments and heartaches but this week we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. It is a holiday that is specifically dedicated to remembering and acknowledging our blessings.

Although, many things may have gone wrong this year, we have still been under the blessing of God. The fact that we are still alive is a blessing. Most of us will gather around  a table full of food with family, which is also a blessing. There is a least one thing that we can all think of that we are thankful for. Now is the time to thank God for them.

I know that lately, our society has gone from Halloween to Christmas but let us not forget about Thanksgiving Day. It is when we keep a thankful heart that we leave ourselves open to receiving more blessings. God is good even when things are bad. Let’s give Him praise and honor, not only on Thanksgiving Day but everyday.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving Day, everyone!

“I will give thanks to you Lord, with all my heart, I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 9:1 NIV

WHAT DID I FORGET? By Tammy Nicole Glover

I’ve done all that I can do. I’ve prayed, I’ve fasted, I’ve immersed myself in the Word of God but still nothing has changed. It actually feels as if things have gotten worse. I’m afraid this is too much for me to bear. I don’t know what else to do. What am I forgetting?

Yes, I remember. I forgot to give the Lord Almighty praise. I’ve been so caught up in my problems that I forgot that God has been carrying me all along. When I didn’t know how I would make it out of the bed and carry on, it was God that gave me the strength. When I didn’t think I would ever stop crying, it was God who comforted me. When I was so afraid that I couldn’t think clearly, it was God who guided me.

Lord, You are the source of my strength, comfort and wisdom. I will trust You and praise You. Thank You for seeing me through every situation I face. Thank You for the encouragement to continue to press ahead. Thank You for loving me and providing for all my needs. Nothing is too hard for You and nothing is greater than You. This battle has already been won. All I have to do now is to thank You for the victory.

“Why my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him my Savior and my God.” Psalm 42:11 NIV

When It Hurts By Tammy Nicole Glover

“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1 KJV

Even though it hurts right now, I will praise You, Lord. My eyes may be so full of tears that I can’t see but I will still give You the glory. I may be so scared and worried that I can speak but I will still lift my hands. I may be so weak from fighting that I can’t dance before You but I will bow down to honor You. My praise is not dependent on my circumstance. I praise You because I love You. I praise You because of who You are. You are the Creator of this world, yet Your eye is still on me, so much so that You know the exact number of hairs on my head. I praise You because You love me in the midst of my troubles. You are always by my side.

How can I not praise You, Lord? You are the source of my strength, my peace and my joy. You are God Almighty. There is no one greater than You.

“I live and breathe God, if things aren’t going will, hear this and be happy.” Psalm 34:2 MSG

SURRENDER By Tammy Glover

“My father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39 NIV

Lord, when I heard your call, I was excited and a little scared. I knew you were calling me to greatness, not so that I could receive the glory but so that you could. I felt honored and blessed. I forged ahead not realizing exactly what your plans entailed.

I expected things to happen immediately. I expected an always smooth path. I expected complete clarity. However, as I went along, I realized that I had to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. As I waited I became anxious and unsure. Did I hear you right? Maybe, I just needed to move things along a little faster for you. Maybe, you forgot about me. None of these things were true. What I had to understand was that there were preparations that needed to be made and things that I needed to learn while I waited.

Deep inside, I think I knew this but I didn’t want to go through the hard stuff. I didn’t want to go through rejection and strange looks from other people. Why couldn’t I accomplish your plans and remain normal? Why did I have to learn how to forgive? Why did I have to learn to be humble? Why did I have to learn to overcome my fears? Growing hurts and it’s hard. I wanted to do things my way and reap all of your rewards. I realize that this is impossible.

Lord, I surrender. I will listen when you say stand firm, even though I’m in the middle of a storm. I will be patient when you say be still. I will press forward when you tell me to walk on water, despite how scared I am. I will say what you want me to say and I will trust you. I will forever praise you.

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19: 21 NIV

AND THE GLORY GOES TO… By Tammy Glover

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like the shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created.” James 1:17-18 NIV

All the glory goes to you, Lord. You are worthy to be praised. You’re worthy for who you are, which is holy and righteous. You are almighty, yet still full of mercy and grace. In my darkest hour, you are with me. You are patient, kind and gentle.

I praise you for your blessings. I praise you for your love. I praise you for your instruction and wisdom. I praise you for your healing. I praise you for your comfort when my heart is broken. I praise you for your encouragement.

Thank you, Lord, for your protection. Thank you for taking care of my family. Thank you for listening to me every single time I come to you. Thank you for doing everything that you have promised.

Sometimes, I get caught up in the chaos of this world and I don’t take the time to thank you like I should, to praise you like you deserve. I forget that my success, my blessings and my gifts are not of my own doing. I’m here because of you. I triumph because of you. I’m a blessing to others because of you. All the glory goes to you, Lord.

“Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to the place it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.” Psalms 113: 2-3 NIV

WHO IS HE? By Tammy Glover

“I am the bread that came down from heaven.” John 6:41 NIV

He is my sun in the rain. He is the sanity in my crazy. He is the right in my wrong. He is the common sense in my stupidity. He is the wisdom in my confusion. He is the hand that catches me when I fall. He is the joy in my pain. He is the calm in my chaos. He is the healer in my sickness. He is the protector in my recklessness. He is the light in my darkness. He is the courage in my cowardice. He is the confidence in my awkwardness. He is the supernatural in my natural. He is the comforter in my loneliness. He is the balm that soothes. He is in the words I write. He is the air I breathe. He is the reason for living. He is my past, present and future. He is the gift to my soul. He is in me. His love surrounds me and his light shines through me. Who is he, you ask. He is Jesus, my Lord and Savior.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12 NIV

MY SECRET WEAPON by Tammy Glover

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Philippians 4:4 NIV

I have a secret weapon. It defeats my enemies. It tears down walls. It loosens chains. No matter what circumstance, I am always armed.

My secret weapon is praise. I praise God when I’m happy and when I’m hurting. I praise God when I’m among friends and when I’m surrounded by my enemies. I praise God for success and when I’m rejected.

I know it seems strange to some when I lift my hands and rejoice with tears in my eyes and I look defeated. They don’t understand the nature of my weapon. When I praise the Lord, I am trusting Him to take care of me. I am acknowledging the fact that there is no problem greater than Him. As an added bonus, I’m confusing the enemy too.

There is no special skill required to use this powerful weapon. All you need to do is say, “thank you, Lord. I know that you are almighty. All things are possible with you.”

Now, the next time the devil attacks, have faith and take out your secret weapon.
