BEFORE YOU FREAK OUT By Tammy Glover

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 NIV

If anything goes wrong today, there are some things you should think about before you freak out. First, stop and breathe. Remember that God is good. He loves you unconditionally. Whatever is thrown at you that is intended to harm you, God intends it for good (Genesis 50:20 NIV).

You barely have two dollars to your name and bills are overdue and you’re receiving shut off notices. Before you freak out remember that, “the Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame,” Isaiah 58: 11 NIV. Also remember, “do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom and these things will be given to you as well,” Luke 12: 29-31 NIV.

You went to the doctor and you were given a grim diagnosis. The doctors aren’t sure if they can help you. You don’t know if you’re going to make it. Before you freak out remember that, “by his wounds you have been healed,” 1 Peter 2:24 NIV. Also remember Isaiah 57: 18 NIV, “I have seen his ways but I will heal him; I will guide him and restore comfort to him.” If you’re still not convinced, here’s something else to think about, “praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits–who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,” Psalm 103:2-3 NIV.

Another door slammed in your face. Someone told you that you’re not good enough. You feel lost and confused. You feel like everyone is against you. Maybe there are people who are intentionally trying to break you down and keep you from receiving your blessings. Before you freak out remember that, “God knows the plans he has for you. They are plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV. “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for you,” Psalm 138:8 NIV. Also remember to “trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight,” Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV.

There is no reason to fear, God is with you. Whenever doubt, anger, confusion and worry creep into your mind, remember what God says about you and what he has promised those who love and have faith in him. Don’t freak out, pray.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.” John 14:1 NIV
