IT’S THAT SIMPLE By Tammy Glover

“Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved–you and your household.” Acts 16:31 NIV

Do you remember when you were younger and things were simple? You could spend hours of fun in a fort made out of a plain cardboard box. If you fell down and scraped your knee it only took one kiss to make it better. If your parents threw you up in the air there was no doubt that they would be there to catch you. You could laugh until your stomach hurt just from seeing someone make a silly face.

As you got older, things became a lot more complicated. Playing sports meant the difference between a scholarship or putting off college. You had to pay bills. You got married and had children. Your job got more stressful. It got to the point that complicated became normal and now you expect everything to be complicated.

Thankfully, there are still some things that are simple and salvation is one of them. I know that some of us have tried to make that complicated too. The simple truth is that all you need to do is accept Jesus Christ into your heart. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done in the past. It doesn’t matter how many mistakes you’ve made. It doesn’t matter how much of a mess your life is in right now. It doesn’t matter how much education you have. It doesn’t matter how you look and it doesn‘t matter how much money you have. Once you allow Jesus inside your heart, he will permeate your whole life. Things will still be challenging and you will still make mistakes, but you won’t be alone and you won’t have to try and figure things out by yourself.

Jesus has already done all of the complicated work for you. He took on your sins, sacrificed his life for yours and rose from the dead just so that you could be saved. Now all you have to do is believe and accept him as your savior. The rest will come.

“Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7:25 NIV

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is a gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8 NIV
