“We do not want you to become lazy, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” Hebrews 6:11
We all know that we have an enemy. We know that his purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. He lies, manipulates and tempts us. He does everything in his power to prevent us from receiving God’s blessing for us. We like to blame him for everything that goes wrong in our lives.
Let me let you in on a little secret. He doesn’t have to work that hard. Most of the times, all he has to do is to sit back and watch us sabotage ourselves. The truth is he can’t make us do anything we don’t allow. It’s our responsibility to set guards over our minds and our hearts.
Whenever we’re tempted to say something negative, it’s our choice to allow something positive to come out of our mouths instead. It’s our choice to give praises to God instead of complaints.
I know it sucks to not be able to blame the enemy for everything. I know it’s easier to place responsibility on someone or something else. It’s easier to allow the first thing that pops in our minds to come out of our mouths. It’s easier to stay up late to watch our favorite TV show than it is to get up an hour early to pray. It’s easier to read that new murder mystery or trashy romance novel than it is to read the book of Job…again. It’s easier to hold a grudge than it is to forgive. It’s easier to judge someone else than it is to look at ourselves. Trust me, I know.
My friends, it is too late in the game for us to get lazy now. All the power and spiritual weapons that God has given us won’t do us any good if we don’t use them. Let’s stop letting the enemy laugh at us as we continually sabotage ourselves. Let’s break out those Bibles, pop in that Bishop T.D. Jakes CD and dust off those Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyers books. Let’s open our ears to hear what our preachers are teaching us. Let’s close those doors and turn off those computers and cell phones so that we can spend uninterrupted, quality time with our Heavenly Father.
Stop sabotaging yourself and receive your blessings, today.
this is so true… Good stuff
Excellent post!
I second that. This is some good writing.
